Cristiano Ronaldo Scores as Al-Nassr Win After Major Security Delay
Cristiano Ronaldo was back on the scoresheet as Al-Nassr claimed a 3-1 victory over Neftchi Fergana in the AFC Champions League Elite, on a night that began with unexpected drama before the ball was even kicked.
The match in Riyadh was delayed by around an hour following a security warning, forcing both teams and supporters to wait before play could finally begin.
Al-Nassr Stay Focused After Unusual Build-Up
Despite the disruption, Al-Nassr quickly settled once the game started. Ângelo opened the scoring and gave the Saudi side an early sense of control.
Ronaldo then made his mark. After good work in the build-up involving Sadio Mané and Aiman Yahya, the Portugal star finished powerfully to double Al-Nassr’s advantage.
It was another important goal for Ronaldo, who continues to deliver in front of goal despite the recent attention surrounding his international future with Portugal.
Neftchi Fight Back but Al-Nassr Finish the Job
Neftchi Fergana responded after half-time and briefly threatened to make the contest more difficult, but their hopes of a comeback faded after they were reduced to ten men.
Al-Nassr remained in control and eventually sealed the 3-1 result with a late own goal, completing a successful night after a far-from-normal start.
Ronaldo Delivers Again
For Al-Nassr, the victory was valuable not only because of the three points, but also because of the way the team handled the uncertainty surrounding kick-off.
For Ronaldo, it was another reminder of his ability to stay focused when the spotlight is at its brightest. The delay dominated the build-up, but once the game began, the familiar story returned: Cristiano Ronaldo finding the net.
