Cristiano Ronaldo’s international career with Portugal may not be over yet. Portugal coach Jorge Jesus has left the door open for Ronaldo to return, days after the 41-year-old unexpectedly left the national team camp following frustration over his role in the squad. The situation had raised major doubts about whether Ronaldo had played his final game for Portugal, but Jesus has now suggested that the relationship can still be repaired.
Ronaldo Still Has a Way Back
Ronaldo left the squad after spending an earlier match against Norway on the bench and learning that he would not start against Denmark. His departure immediately created uncertainty around his future, especially as Portugal continued to win without him. Gonçalo Ramos has taken advantage of the opportunity in attack, while the team has looked comfortable moving forward without depending on Ronaldo as its main focal point.
That makes any possible return more complicated.
Ronaldo has not announced his international retirement, and Jesus has made it clear that a comeback remains possible. The bigger question is whether Ronaldo would be willing to return in a role that may no longer guarantee him a place in the starting XI.
For now, the next move appears to be his. Will Cristiano Ronaldo wear the Portugal shirt again?
